Serving Those Who Served Albany

Capital City Veterans, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (status pending) committed to organizing and funding the annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades in Albany, New York. These are two of the Capital Region's most cherished public tributes to the men and women of the armed forces.

But the march is just the beginning. Our vision is to have each parade conclude at Academy Park, where the community would gather for a post-parade event: a solemn memorial service, a festive celebration of service or simply a gathering of neighbors united in gratitude. It is a future we are actively working toward.

We believe every veteran deserves to be seen, celebrated and remembered. Our events bring together the Albany community, veteran organizations and civic groups in shared gratitude for the sacrifices that protect our freedoms.

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them."
John F. Kennedy

Albany's Parades of Honor

Last Monday of May
Memorial Day Parade

Each spring, Albany comes together to honor the fallen, those who gave their last full measure of devotion in defense of this nation. The parade winds through the heart of the Capital City, bringing together veterans and civic organizations. Our vision is for the march to one day conclude at Academy Park for a memorial service of quiet reflection and shared reverence.

November 11th
Veterans Day Parade

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, Albany celebrates the living heroes who have served in uniform. A joyful expression of community pride and patriotism, we envision the parade one day concluding at Academy Park with a festival of live music, food and community connection for veterans and families alike.

A Dream Worth Marching Toward

Our vision has always been bigger than a parade route. We are working toward having each Capital City Veterans parade conclude at Academy Park, where Albany would gather to honor, remember and celebrate together. This is an opportunity we are actively pursuing, not yet a reality, but it is exactly the kind of event this city deserves. The format would change with the occasion but the spirit would remain the same: Albany shows up for its veterans.

✍️

Memorial Services

We envision solemn ceremonies at Academy Park following the Memorial Day Parade, with remarks from community leaders, a moment of silence and recognition of the fallen from our region.

🎶

Veterans Festivals

Our hope is to follow the Veterans Day Parade with a lively celebration at Academy Park: live music, food vendors and activities for all ages where veterans and families can connect with an appreciative community.

🤝

Community Gatherings

A place to shake a veteran's hand, hear their story and stand together as a city. Academy Park would give Albany a home for these moments of connection that the parades themselves cannot fully provide.

🏛️

Resources and Outreach

As the park events take shape, we plan to partner with veterans service organizations to provide information, resources and support connections, ensuring veterans know what is available to them.

Albany's Newest Tradition of Honor

Capital City Veterans, Inc. was founded in 2026 to ensure that Albany's proud tradition of honoring its veterans endures for generations to come. We are a grassroots nonprofit organization, entirely volunteer-driven and community-supported, with a singular focus: producing dignified and memorable events that the entire Capital Region can be proud of.

Our vision extends beyond the parade route. We are working toward having each event culminate at Academy Park, where the community would be invited to gather for whatever the moment calls for: a solemn memorial service, a lively veterans festival, live entertainment or simply a place to shake a veteran's hand and say thank you. It is a goal we are actively pursuing.

Our board and volunteers include veterans and passionate Albany residents who understand the importance of public recognition. Every dollar we raise goes directly toward event production: permits, logistics, music, color guards and community outreach.

Capital City Veterans, Inc. has applied for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Once approved, donations will be fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
